How to activate an LG U+ prepaid phone
Activate an LG prepaid phone online with one of these: Modu One-Chip SIM (8,800 KRW), Daiso GoGoB SIM (5,000 KRW), or eSIM (2,750 KRW). It is activated in your own name after identity verification, with no credit check, and usually takes about 10 minutes.

Get your SIM ready
Buy a Modu One-Chip SIM or a Daiso GoGoB SIM. You do not need to go out and buy an eSIM.
Choose a network
On the application screen, tap Activate LG (LG 개통하기), marked in red.
Choose a sign-up type
Tap new sign-up for a new number, or number porting to move your current number.
Face verification
Match your face and ID at the address shown. If you fail 3 times, you move on to the next step.
Simple authentication
Verify your identity with one of KakaoTalk, Toss Bank, PASS, KB Kookmin Bank, or Shinhan Bank.
Customer type, prepaid, SIM owned
Tap Korean citizen aged 19 or older, prepaid, and SIM owned, in that order.
Enter the SIM number in two fields
Enter the model name (1 uppercase letter + 4 digits) and the 8-digit serial number separately.
Choose a plan
Tap the plan you chose from the LG prepaid plans.
Enter your details and activate
Check the details and tap Activate (개통하기). For number porting, a pre-consent step comes before this.
Top-up and confirmation call
Top up on the day of activation, and answer the 1899-7700 call that comes within 3 days.
What should you check before buying an LG U+ prepaid SIM?
If you have unpaid amounts with N-Telecom or no simple authentication certificate, you cannot finish online, so check just three things before you buy a SIM.
Where can you buy an LG prepaid SIM, and for how much?
LG prepaid SIMs include the Modu One-Chip SIM (8,800 KRW), sold at places like Emart24, and the Daiso GoGoB SIM (5,000 KRW). If it is hard to go buy a SIM, activate with an eSIM (2,750 KRW).

How do you enter an LG SIM number?
For an LG SIM number, enter the model name and serial number in two separate fields. It is the same for One-Chip and GoGoB, and running them together in one field fails.

The model name may differ by SIM type. If you type it in lowercase, it shows up as a SIM that cannot be used. For KT, enter 19 digits in one field.
Which LG prepaid plan should you choose?
If you use data every day, start by comparing LTE 396 with 10.3GB (39,600 KRW/mo) and 5G 464 with 20GB on 5G (46,400 KRW/mo). Add-on and video calls are 50 minutes on both plans.

How is an LG prepaid phone different from a KT prepaid phone?
LG has more SIMs to choose from, plus eSIM and 5G plans, while KT supports international roaming. Also check the KT unpaid history of the phone you have been using.

How do you activate an LG prepaid phone?
Get an LG SIM (Modu One-Chip SIM or Daiso GoGoB SIM) or an eSIM ready, enter the SIM number on the N-Telecom application screen, and finish face verification and simple authentication to activate. Top up on the day of activation and answer the confirmation call, and you are done. It usually takes about 10 minutes.
The LG SIM number will not go in.
Enter an LG SIM in two separate fields. Put 1 uppercase letter and 4 digits in the model name field, and 8 digits in the serial number field. Running them together in one field or using lowercase fails.
Should you buy the One-Chip or the GoGoB?
Both are activated with LG plans. The One-Chip costs 8,800 KRW and has NFC. The GoGoB costs 5,000 KRW and has no NFC.
Can you activate with an eSIM?
Yes. A prepaid eSIM works only with LG activation and costs 2,750 KRW. It works on the Galaxy S23 series and later, Z Fold4 and Flip4 and later, and the iPhone 11 series and later.
Can a phone with KT unpaid history be activated with LG?
Yes. If a Baro SIM is not recognized on the phone because of KT unpaid or overdue history, you can go ahead with an LG SIM. If you have unpaid bills with N-Telecom, pay them in full first.
Does international roaming work with an LG prepaid phone?
No. LG prepaid does not support international roaming. If you need roaming, activate with KT.
Do you apply for spam blocking separately?
With LG prepaid new sign-ups and number porting, spam blocking and web-sent text alerts are added automatically at no charge.
How soon after activation do you need to insert the SIM?
For LG, insert the SIM into your phone within 30 minutes after activation. After 30 minutes it may not register properly, and you may have to bring your ID to an LG U+ store.
What if the LG SIM does not connect?
Turn the phone off, wait 5 minutes, take the SIM out and put it back in, then turn the phone on slowly.
When are LG charges deducted, and when is the allowance refilled?
Charges are deducted monthly, and the allowance is refilled every 30 days from the day you activated.
Does the hotspot still work after you use up your data?
It is best to stay within the included allowance. After you use it up, the hotspot may be limited. If you use the hotspot a lot, compare KT too.
Can an LG prepaid phone be paused too?
No. LG prepaid does not support a pause or a lost-phone suspension.
Can you move the number you use now?
You can if the number has been in use for 3 months or more and has no unpaid amounts or micropayment balance. Please check the number porting conditions.
